Reminders
Remember, if you cannot acolyte at your assigned worship, service, try to get a replacement and let Marcie know who it is, by 12:00pm on Wednesdays. If you cannot get a replacement, let me know (Pastor Simon). Also, remember that you need to fill out sixteen sermon outlines before Confirmation Sunday. So, even if you are not acolyting, you need to be in worship.Acolyte Guidelines / Responsibilities
1. You are to be present 10 minutes prior to the start of the service. Go to the Sacristy to put on your robe and be ready for your entrance. Some of the taller students will need to wear one of the worship assistant’s robes. (Since communion is served at all services, please wash your hands in the Sacristy prior to each service.)2. In making the schedule, we have tried to accommodate all scheduling conflicts that we knew about in advance. If you cannot serve on your assigned date, it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement.
3. The Acolyte is to demonstrate in their behavior and participation that worship is something special. You are to follow along in the liturgy, speak the parts, sing the hymns, etc. Remember that you are to be setting an example for those present: i.e.: Sit-up straight, pay attention to what’s going on, don’t talk with your acolyting partner, etc.
4. The Acolyte, if not yet a communing member, is to come forward with the Worship Assistant for a blessing, then assist Pastor and/or the Worship Assistant in serving the Lord’s Supper. Please see that there are adequate wafers on the tray for Pastor, and that the wine tray has sufficient grape juice cups in the center ring.
5. Attire. Please remember that you are representing not only yourself, but also God and this church. As you consider this, take care as to what you wear on the Sunday, you are assigned to serve as an acolyte.
6. RESPECT. Remember that you are serving God and this congregation, and need to act accordingly.
